The FAQ

Do you Travel?

I am located in the Redlands, on the bayside of Brisbane. I am happy to travel all around the Brisbane region as well as to the Sunshine and Gold Coasts. I am also available Australia wide so please get in touch! A small travel fee applies to travel outside of the Brisbane region. Get in touch for a travel quote.

I'd love to get photos but i'm a little shy..

I totally understand!! As a mother who has also had family and maternity photos taken of myself, I know how you feel. It can be daunting getting in front of the camera. My sessions are very laid back and focussed more on having fun as a family. There is no pressure to do anything that you don't want to do! We take it slow, have a little fun and play together with lots of love. And don't forget I will always be there to help and direct you wherever needed.

I have an iphone, why invest in a photographer?

Family photos are definitely an investment however they are so worthwhile!! I am a firm believer in having family photos taken of my family every year, so that I can be in front of the camera and have a beautiful representation of how everyone was in that moment, year after year. Being able to look back at these photos in years to come is so special.

What should we wear?

I am happy to discuss outfit options with you once we book your session. It may be surprising to know that most family photos that we are drawn to involve a lot of behind the scenes outfit preparation.

I recommend going with similar tones and shades when picking everyones outfits. Neutrals and earthy tones usually work the best together but try to avoid wearing the same colours.

For family shoots, I always recommend picking your colour palette first. Styling around mum or the lead adult outfit is always a great idea too.

A great tip when picking outfits is to lay them out on the bed and see how the colours work together.

My client closet is also available to all of my clients. Please reach out if you would like to see what I have available.

I also recommend brands such as:
- Co & Ry
- Auguste the label
- Coven & Co
- Bird & Kite
- Opia Byron Bay
- Rooh Collective
- Hazel & Folk
- Spell
- Zale the Label
- Saffron Lane

If you would like further recommendations, please reach out.

Rental companies are also a great option. I recommend businesses such as:
- Mama Rentals
- Hire Maternity
- Everything lace hire

Do you have a client closet?

I do! I am slowly accumilating dresses that suit my style of photography. Unfortunately special pieces can be expensive, so I am doing my best to get a wide range of sizes available. At the moment it is a work in progress however please reach out and I can let you know about the beautiful dresses I have.

How do we get our photos?

I use an online platform called Pictime where I will upload and send the photos to you. From here they will be stored for a year.
It is imperative that you download your photos and save them on an additional device like an external Hard Drive.

What is your turn around time?

Whilst I am a photographer, I am also a full time Mum with 3 little children at home full time! I will try my absolute best to get photos to you as quickly as possible, and most albums will be sent off within 3 weeks. I do however say that the wait time can be up to 4-6 weeks during peak periods. If you have a desired turnaround time, please get in touch so we can discuss what is possible.

How do we book you?

Get in contact!! Reach out via email or DM and we can have a chat about what it is that you are hoping to get from your session. From there we can pick a mutually suitable day and book you in. A deposit must be paid upon booking with your full session fee due before the shoot takes place.

What is the best time of day for a photoshoot?

I can shoot at any time of the day however there are always times that are more preferable for those soft beautiful photos. As I am a natural light photographer, I love to shoot at the dreamy, soft and golden times of the day. This is usually Sunrise & Sunset! I know it is a little daunting bringing young children to a family session starting late in Summer, however it is totally worth it! I always recommend feeding children prior to your session and bringing snacks!

We have a family session, what do we need to bring?

A family session is a special occasion so it's a good idea to treat it like that. A little bribery for a treat afterwards always helps and hey, a one off doesn't hurt right!!!

Whenever kids are involved, make sure they are fed! If you have kids that still nap, try to have them nap later in the day.

Always bring snacks and if your child has a special comforter its a great idea to bring it along.

Please also always bring a spare pair of clothes when children are involved. If they are like my kids, they will get drenched twice in a family session!!! If we are near the beach, it is also a good idea to bring a towel or two.

What location should we go to for our shoot?

I always recommend a location that has some significance for you. If you don't have a particular location in mind we can discuss the feel you want for your shoot. Different locations will produce a different style of photo. Naturally photos on a white sandy beach may be brighter, on dark sand they may appear more moody. Due to these differences, it is important that we discuss what you would like to achieve from your photos.

Why do family photos come at a cost?

When you break it down, hiring a photographer to take images of you is actually a really reasonable cost! A professional photographer is more than just someone who clicks a camera.

Many hours go into planning sessions, locations and talking with clients. There are also significant costs of equipment, insurance and software subscriptions. Then there is the editing. The time taken to edit a session can be more than 10+ hours. Unfortunately it's not a quick process!

So when you look at a fee, don't forget about the human who loves what they do and is dedicating hours upon hours of their time to create some absolute magic for you to keep forever.

Think of it as a long term investment that will bring you joy in the years to come.

Do you edit out all imperfections?

I am a natural light photographer and believe in capturing people in all of their raw beauty. In saying this, I know how it feels to be in front of the camera and wish for a little imperfection to be removed!! I always want you to feel your best in your photos.

Editing is a very long process and most albums take over 10+ hours to perfect. Unfortunately I am unable to edit out each fly away hair, clothing imperfection or bruise. I will always do my best to remove random issues and accommodate requests. However it is important to note that for significant additional editing a further fee may be charged. Please get in contact so that we can discuss any additional needs that you may have.

Printing photos

When you are provided with your online gallery, there is also the option to purchase prints of your image. Orders are placed through the online platform with third party professional printing company's such as Atkins.

If you choose to find your own printer, it is so important that you use a professional printing lab.
Kiosk printing booths such as Kmart & Big W are really handy however they don't use high quality printers, ink or even techniques. The technique used to print in kiosks is usually inkjet which sprays the ink onto the paper, in comparison with professional labs who use a technique to embed the colour into the paper. The problem is that the image you receive from a kiosk will not look like the image you see on your screen. Kiosk prints can be different in colour and tone which is a real shame when you have spent money on a professional photographer!

If you ever need recommendations of places to print, please get in touch!

Downloading your photos.

It is very important that once you receive your gallery, you download your photos to MULTIPLE devices. Unfortunately devices can fail, and so it's important to have a back up. Your photos will be available online for 12 months, and you will be able to access them at any time within this period. However after this period of time, I am not able to guarantee safekeeping of your images. So please save and backup as soon as possible. Better yet, get them printed! :)

Do you always share photos of clients on Social media?

Many of the photos I take will not be shown on my social media.

I respect everyones right to privacy and so at the time of booking, you will receive my contract which will list all of my terms and conditions. Within this contract there is a section where you will be able to opt in or out of allowing the photos to be shared on my social media and/or website. So if you opt out, I will not share your photos.

If you are on the fence, I am also happy for you to go through your album and highlight the photos that you do not wish to be shared.

Everyone has a right to privacy and I respect that. However, if you are happy for me to share your photos on my social media and/or website, please know that I am so grateful this and it helps grow content for a small business such as mine!!

Please note that I never share any identifying details such as names of children on my social media or website.

Can I get a fake tan for my shoot?

I want you to feel comfortable in your skin, so if this includes an extra glow then go ahead!! However it is VERY important that you tan lighter than normal. Sometimes fake tans can appear orange in photos and from experience it is much more flattering with less tan. So if you are planning on using fake tan, just make sure you keep 'less is more' in mind. My go to is Eco Tan for a natural and non toxic tan!

Do you censor nudity?

Some motherhood or maternity sessions involve partial nudity. As mentioned above, I will always respect privacy and never share online if you do not wish for me to do so. If you are happy for me to share we can discuss how each photo will be censored for social media.

Do you hold mini sessions?

Yes! Twice a year I will hold a day of Mini Sessions. Sessions book up quickly so please sign up to my mailing list or turn notifications on my Instagram page to be the first to find out.
